REDUCINGimpact

As human beings, by simply existing on planet earth, we leave behind an unavoidable carbon footprint. Traveling and hosting global yoga events will always be a part of our lives as we believe that world travel and yoga have the ability to transform and change lives. Breaking away from everyday routines and delving deeper into our yoga practice in a new environment allows us to return home recharged with a richer understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

As we encourage yogis to travel and explore the world around them, we also understand our responsibility to sustain and protect the beautiful places we all have the privilege of visiting. Even with our plant-based diet (which is one of the single biggest ways to reduce your environmental impact), we understand that still doesn't offset one of the most carbon-intensive activities known to mankind: flying in a plane. With our Carbon Offset Initiative, we take responsibility to sustain and protect the beautiful places we get to visit and enjoy.

We are committed to traveling in a way that is respectful of local people, their culture, and the environment.

That's why we're proud to partner with the ClimeCo to offset our unavoidable energy expenditures to not only offset our carbon use, but to also offset five additional humans. Carbon offsetting is a practical and effective way to address climate change by contributing to projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, develop clean technologies, preserve forest conservation, and support a more sustainable future.

Many companies use carbon-offsetting as their golden ticket to get out of holding themselves accountable for making real changes (such as utilizing solar and wind energy, recycling the roof water to use in toilets, plant-based cafeterias, composting, recycling, volunteering, energy-efficient lights, etc). However, we've come a long way since carbon-offsetting was introduced and it's no longer *just* planting trees - there are dozens of initiatives that carbon-offset organizations push for the greater good and the ClimeCo is one of them.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as sustainable flying. Until that day comes, we will continue to offset our emissions, take long-distance trains/buses instead of flying and if we do fly, then we try to fly direct nonstop on economy with one of these eco-friendly airlines
